lyrics
I took the early train
the Brussels ICE
two Rojava punks
sat across from me
one had the gleaming eyes
of a new recruit
and returned my wary gaze
with a smile and a fake salute
and then we drifted off
they had something that I recognized
and that makes me scared
they said nothing but I read their eyes
and I had a dream about a bomb at night in Maine
ÉLAN VITAL
I must've slept too long
and I missed my stop
and these Rojava punks
suggested we all get off at once
they took me in on trust
they let me crash their house
because they see no distinction
between a civilian and them
and then I feel it
there's no chance for a change in the weather
in the time it takes to make a fist
keep it up until the world gets better
but we hope we're never careless or arrogant
NEVER
Rojava punks
on a training run
Rojava punks
empty stadium
Rojava punks
yellow red and green
I woke up to see
two empty seats
across from me
but now I feel it
there's no chance for a change in the weather
in the time it takes to rule
without you
Hey you there, do you love Jeffrey Lewis? Do you love Peter Stampfel? Are you intrigued by the notion of music that has spent so many years secretly soaking in laughter and joy that it is downright psychedelic to look upon? Both Ways is the culmination of a decade's friendship and mutual inspiration, a behemoth of a double album, spectacular, unique. It is a signpost for drifting souls. Listen, laugh, wonder, delight, be made new. And play Orgone Accumulator fucking LOUD. Grain Sparrow
always rhyme is such an awesome song, made me buy the whole project. as a fellow lyricist, I found that track especially relatable and touching.
saw HS perform last weekend in Brooklyn with my friend Eli Black as the opening act. bought a cassette and album that night. it feels great to support a dope artist like Boy Sand, peace salmonthecardoor
The gorgeous and gripping new record from Anika Pyle features minimalist folk & pop songs that struggle to make sense of loss. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 21, 2021
I love Lovecraft in Brooklyn, and this version captures the energy of the Mountain Goats in concert as well as any recording I've heard. My absolute favorite, but the live version of See America Right is a close second. Bangers, the both of 'em. theoysterking
